Comedians Hit Hard by Recession
On the June 10th episode of the Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio, comedic sidekick Artie Lange said:
“A lot of comedians aren’t lucky enough to have a steady income, and people are hurting now for money…”
So, it looks like gigs are hard to come by these days for stand-up comedians.
The enormous comedian did not elaborate, but only because Lange’s comments came in the middle of a discussion about cash-strapped comedian Bob Levey, who has a show on Stern’s channel. Lange’s comments came 22 minutes into the show.
First, we heard that things were tough for strippers, and now the comedians are distressed. It looks like consumers are cutting back hard on entertainment spending. This can’t be good for the consumer-discretionary stocks…
