Friday’s Trading – 5/29/09

Make sure to take a look at Tony’s post on using the TICK to time trades. It’s an excellent indicator.

GDP came in worse than expected at -5.7 versus the -5.5 estimate and the futures dropped a couple of points, but are still green

    Charlie,

Dressguard what gives with you and balls & Fridays?

  3. Larry says:

Julie, How is Sherry and Meb doing?

  4. Dressguard says:

Gals and guys: Enjoy the weekend and the gap up on Monday.

  5. George says:

    Charlie,

Holding SRS is a fairly good bet.

  6. Charlie says:

All right JG.. just like the good old days back when we were still in a bear market. Did anyone else join the SRS parade?

  7. Charlie says:

Hey, there is to be no foul language on this board Dressguard.. so no more talk about gap ups and such. :)

  8. junglegirl says:

    Charlie, ROFL!!

    Larry:

I think Sherry was turned off by my “Sherrrrry Sherry Bayayaby.” I just like the song and meant no weird bloggy flirt.

  10. Julie says:

    Larry,
My Mother is fine…still joking around.
She loves jokes and is why she no
longer posts here. The last time she
did she made a joke and it offended
a blog member. So she leaves the posts
to the serious member of the family…me.
My Grandfather is still trying to find his
Aussie girlfriend. He’s in good health.
We tell him to give up and come home.
Don’t think he will. He loves Australia.

    MKB,
Mother had a big laugh over your post.

I will try updating my week end picks on my site. Reinstalled the Operating System so everything is on the old one hence it hasn’t been updated in over a week :)

  13. George says:

Both SPX and QQQQ bounced off their weekly 36MA. So Dressguard may have a point about a gap.

  14. Larry says:

Julie, your Grandfather (and Matt) introduced me to Atlas Shrugged. Tell him I’m grateful. Good night.

  15. Julie says:

    Larry,
    Will do.
    Have a great weekend.

    Julie

  16. K says:

George all Dressguard has a point about is innapropriate for me to repeat :P

  17. George says:

Shorts are running scared right now. Can’t blame them. But SKF has made higher weekly lows for 4 weeks. Doesn’t mean anything until something changes, but in the past when it has built a base it has followed-through to the upside.

I still believe we need more upside before a nice correction and an even bigger upside for a crash that many are predicting. Soon, the smart money will be selling out while there is a chance to take some profit in the event of more downside. That won’t include funds because of the handcuffs put on the managers and that will make the process slower.

  18. George says:

    K,

I look forward to your picks. Please don’t buy a car – we need you by your computer. I’ll even send you some natzi soup to keep your energy up.

  19. K says:

send me a third screen instead of coup and we got a deal :D

  20. George says:

TNX was down -2.07. Wild, or what?

  21. Charlie says:

so today, the CAD was up 1.7 cents vs. the USD.. tell me something isn’t terribly wrong here and that we should remain bullish.

  22. MKB says:

    Charlie & George:

I went down the rabbit hole a bit in search of a satisfactory answer to me about the treasury sell off. I thought the commodity bubble that has been building would have been pricked by now – I thought CAD would go the other way. I thought the folks already in the sand box would be jilted but instead they won over new money – surprised me as I was in DIG, DXO, GLNG & CZZ and sold out WAY too early. So, I was punked. More later . . .

  23. George says:

    MKB,

I didn’t get to trade much today. Usually I trade DIG/DUG. Today was a good DIG day.

Do you use technical analysis, fundamentals, or both?

  24. K says:

Click on my site and latest picks. I added a few too many and next week will find a better way to display. I have removed prices to make it easier for me to update and also you wouldn’t get in at the exact price anyways.

Click on my name and then from there on Current Picks.

enjoy. I hate myself on the GLD move :P go check the date

  25. George says:

    Stringm,

I read your comment about those MACDs – one having EMA.

Good Find! I thought I was going crazy there. I don’t need to get my old documents now that the light has been turned on.

    Thanks

  26. Dressguard says:

OMG, I just realized I turned into a perma-bear. Not what I want actually. There is always some kind of light at the end of the tunnel. When I was talking about the gap up on Monday I meant actually a gap down in the markets and a gap up for short papers like SRS etc. My bad.
