Monday’s Trading – 12/14/09

On Friday night, Kudlow did an entire hour-long show on Tiger Woods. Note to Kudlow: what the hell is your problem?

Zero Hedge has blown up. It now has an Alexa rating of 12,328, which is far above even Barry Ritholtz’s The Big Picture.

What does that mean? It means that Zero Hedge has a huge audience and could garner large advertising dollars. The moral of the story is that conspiracy theories are good business; very, very good business. People love to have reality spiced-up.

Note: if you use FireFox, you can install the Sparky plugin and it will show you the Alexa rank of whatever site you are on in the lower-right corner of your browser window.

    K,
The OEF has 1/10 of the leverage that the OEX
has. A bad deal. When I trade I want to get
the highest leverage possible for each dollar
    I trade with.

    K,
If you believe what you said about getting
your vitamins from real food, Realfood
Organics and Garden Of Life brands of
vitamins should interest you. I Herb gives
a nice discount on both brands.

    Will do julie.
This is not foolproof but during summer. And fall I try buying most fruit and vegetables from farmer markets.

Make a brinks truck full of organics today will ya? :)

Thanks paula. We can only trade once a week (thursday)
And oef is to just have a bit of exposure to satisfy most people so I can play with the other 60% and double up winners that work out

  5. paula says:

    K,
You’re right, and I’m wrong. You are
running an investment club not a
trading club. A focus on 3 to 5 winning
    stocks sounds about right.

SOLD all remaing SCHX for 23c gain

  9. George says:

Bummer… SPY has a lower shadow that filled the open gap up at that $107 area, but I don’t see that shadow on SPX or SSO.

  10. phil says:

GEORGE…overlap of 109.72 should send GLD back to test the lows

  11. George says:

Thanks Phil. Gold has been on a tear and I would expect some profit-taking soon.

  12. phil says:

george… gld still struggling with 110.20 as posted days ago

The next time SRS pops it should be a good one.

  16. George says:

SRS at today’s top. SPY nearing today’s top.

    This should be interesting.

  17. George says:

Here’s the SPY chart which just hit the upper trendline. A breakout either way will be good.

The first chart is the Freestockcharts, the second is a pic.

Yerk, finally someone picked up on what’s going on in India. The mainstream journalist/economist is not yet connecting the dots on what will happen next.

But we have a repeat of Spring 2008. It is now only a question of time.

What you guys think? A double-top?

    http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=%5EBSESN&t=6m

  20. George says:

    Larry,

That could be a double plus rounding top. I’d wait for a break in either direction.

  21. George says:

BBT had 1 good run today. ICE came back some. SPY doesn’t seem to be able to break that upper trendline although it did spike through it. But I haven’t counted it out yet.

  22. K says:

All I gotta say for now is be careful of this GLD chart
    http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=GLD&p=D&yr=0&mn=3&dy=0&id=p05528442779

even though the resistance on this DZZ is heavy as well.

  24. phil says:

GEORGE……MAX pain SPY @ 105….market will need HEROIN to ” nod “down that far by friday

  25. George says:

    K,

Has max pain worked this year?

  26. phil says:

george..spy went from 111 on wed to 109 thur just before last op ex…matt said it hasnt been working well this year

  27. Rodrigo says:

On SPY, is this the lowest volume day in the life of the rally?

  28. George says:

    phil,

Nice to know something is working. :)

  29. George says:

    Rodrigo,

    Nice catch! Yes, lowest volume.

  30. Mitch says:

    George,

Thanks for the SPY pic. K was right on as far as the GLD and DZZ call from those charts – after 2.5pm GLD showed some spunk – obviously DZZ hit that resistance.

    What a day!

  31. George says:

    Mitch,

I know I joked about the movement today but actually it was a good day.

There’s some juice brewin’ on the inverse out there and I want to be on the front-end of that train.

  32. after says:

  35. George says:

    K,

    Got the email. Thanks!

  36. Julie says:

    K,
How dumb are Americans? Palin had a book
signing in northen VA. People stood in line
outside the store ALL night long in order
to buy a book and get it signed. Real dumb!!!
    Do you agree?

  37. George says:

SPY is holding tight in that daily pattern’s trendlines. It did poke through to the upside somewhat. That could be bullish, I donno. Here is a look at the 5min which I check each day which looks bearish!

    http://i49.tinypic.com/js0eh4.jpg

  38. George says:

    Julie,

It never ceases to amaze me how the public reacts to celebrities, politicians and the like.

You’re being too kind calling us “dumb”. (Just kidding). :)

I agree. I wouldn’t mind waiting in line at the Lone Star steak house but certainly not for Palin.

You know what gets me? Is how some of these politicians can do the stuff they do – like Clinton – and still draw a crowd. I realize what he did wasn’t the worst of all evils, but really. If I was him, I would be so ashamed, I’d never be seen in public again. But then again, he is a politician…

  39. K says:

    Julie,
This will come back to haunt me but yes I agree. It’s all crowd psychology though (thanks to the psychology books I have read lately).

if someone attacked a person on the street and there were 5 people walking by and left them alone the 6th would too. if 2 of them went to help the rest would too.

same with looking up at the sky. if just you stares in empty sky nobody will really look. if you get 5 friends and all look up and not say a word another 20 people (assuming the street is busy) will gather around you and begin looking up.

if nobody showed up for palin then she’d have no books to sign.lol

  40. George says:

    K,

Do you use a PC or Mac?

  41. K says:

    PC

i’ll be selling 5 macs by next week if you’re interested LOL

  42. Mitch says:

    Julie,

Yes, that’s dumb – but kind of cute.

Still trying to please their first grade teacher . . . . K you kill me with that psychology.

  43. George says:

No thanks. I can fidget more with a PC. :)

  44. K says:

    why Mitch? :P

  45. K says:

    George,
as a techie i love pc’s as they’re more hackable hehe

  46. George says:

Well, I’m going to bed early so I can see which way SPY breaks out!

  47. K says:

    night George

Remember the Vietnamese drank snake blood to get the market up again? They might begin to start preparing round 2 soon.

  49. Mitch says:

    K,

It just cracks me up. I noticed the Aussie dollar under pressure again – although it found support. The problem as I see it with AUD is it ran 30% and now it’s not seen as the currency on the rise. Like gold, when the momentum is over they have to fend for themselves.

  50. K says:

haha ohh good. i thought i was making bad examples and you got tired of it. :D

  51. K says:

larry. what’s your current weight? last i remember 80 cash 20 short?

  52. 2thfixr says:

George, I’m with you…I’ve hugged an inverse and looking for 1086 or less by week’s end. Let’s get there and make some $$$$.

UUP has broken out of the wave 3 channel (just barely), so a continued move up closer to $23 should cement that downward move. GLD has Fib support at $106.88 from the move up starting at $96.77. If the dollar/UUP continues to strengthen, I’d look for GLD at $107 and SPY at $109 (and I’d prefer less).

  53. Mitch says:

    Larry,

Yes, I remember that! I joked and asked you were you drinking it back then!

  54. K says:

TED is still being uneventful these 3MA’s im watching are really knocking it down. once i see a nice break i’m going to have some Vixxen fun
