If the economy is recovering, why are people cutting back on Kleenex? If you can’t afford Kleenex, what can you afford?

I saw someone buy no name diet cola the other day to save 30 cents. There are a lot of people struggling out there.

  2. Charlie says:

VIX is up more than 3, but markets are flattish.

  3. Mitch says:

    Guys:

I blow my nose with new toilet paper (as opposed to the recycled variety). Charlie I buy those knock off colas just for the thrill and spark of nostalgia I get – I’m trying my darndest to get back to the trailer park.

  4. Mitch says:

    Wow, check out MOO phil.

  5. paula says:

    George,
When you call up the SPX daily chart, suggest
you try RSI(5) and full sto(5,3,3) on the chart.

  6. George says:

    paula,

Will do. Thanks. Anything particular I’m looking for?

  7. Charlie says:

Blogs mostly quiet. Seems like people are still awestruck by the fact that this overbought market can continue to move higher.

  8. paula says:

    George,
Trend and momentum…use RSI and your
    MACD histogram as momentun indicators
    …momentum preceeds price…higher price
on lower momentum…look for a turn. The
full stoc(5,3,3) gives direction but is a lagging
indicator…will sync up after a turn.

  9. George says:

    paula,

    Great. Thanks.

  10. George says:

What we have here is the month-end and quarter-end effect. This may last 4 days after month-end.

  11. George says:

Two things I don’t skimp on… toilet paper and peanuts – only the best.

  12. paula says:

    George,
    LOL

  13. phil says:

mitch….i expect moo to collapse to 31 unless it closes above 18dsma

  14. phil says:

mitch …bought ddm@ 28.60 on dip this am …like moo target is 18dsma then down….getting ready to sell now ……..

  15. George says:

    Financials backing off.

  16. Charlie says:

Call me nuts.. added to more shorts still on the SPY. Break even is around 920 on the SPX for me.

  17. George says:

If the “B” team is running the show, they normally run the market up. Safer to buy than sell in case there is uppage.

  18. Mitch says:

    phil:

As of lately, the two (MOO & DDM) seem correlated – can’t argue that one.

  19. phil says:

mitch ….ndx going for test of june 11 top….dow lagging badly . should have used qld

  20. marty says:

    Phil,
Fyi, TLT broke above your 94.50 level. It’s over 95.

  21. phil says:

    marty….waiting for 96 -97 on tlt…which is 4th wave of lesser degree of decline…a strong resistance area….plus …….i want my dividend…lol

  22. phil says:

marty… once past the ex dividend date..they can have all my tlt @ 96.5

  23. George says:

The way price has laid on the bottom of the inverse, there could be at least a mini-MOAR in the future.

  24. marty says:

    Phil,
That’s right… 96-97 is the right area. I’m waiting for the divvy, too! LOL, though I only still have half a position. It never dipped down to my buy are again.

  25. Charlie says:

Market is flat lining ahead of the month end. No point in making a big move ahead of the end of quarter/half since MM’s need to make their “investor materials” look attractive to the masses.

  26. George says:

    Charlie,

Agree. I am seeing dip-buying dry up though – on the underlying.

  27. phil says:

marty..see the 2 waves up from the low??? wave equality is at 96…overlap of june 17 peak should send it to new lows

  28. George says:

If TBT breaks out, what will that mean for the overall market? Is that like TNX?

  29. whipitaround says:

    bear flag on nascrack

  30. phil says:

george…. george tbt is a bond bear 2x etf……tlt is a bond bull 1x etf

  31. Mitch says:

    George:

For TBT to break-out for an extended period in the face of the FED saying we have a lot of slack in the economy would, in my opinion, count as traction, as opposed to slack, but not traction on the road to deflation but mud-grippers on the road to moo (moo) land (again).

  32. phil says:

    dow 8580 (18dsma) or bust

  33. Charlie says:

Volume has been awful today. Worse than Friday and that was really low too. We have still 27 mins to go.. so maybe something will happen.

  34. George says:

    Okay, thanks.

  35. phil says:

george……if it doesnt move up now in going to TMAR

  36. phil says:

    sold ddm @ 29.06

  37. phil says:

    take my pennies and leave…hasta

  38. Charlie says:

VIX closed down again.. Hanging around that lower BB

  39. Mitch says:

    phil:

    Very nice trading.

  40. phil says:

    mitch….thanks

  41. George says:

    phil,

What’s TMAR? I can’t wait to hear this one. :)

  42. George says:

    Charlie,

I don’t know what the catalyst will be, but the VIX is gonna bounce off of Matt’s spring and go to the moon. I can hear it creak when it tightens.

  43. phil says:

    george……take the money and run

  44. George says:

    phil,

    HAHA,,,, my montra, too. ;)

  45. after says:

re the VIX, has anyone traded VXX ?

I’m still with my DXD and QID with the cov. calls sold on both…

  46. junglegirl says:

With the huge upswing in program trading, it looks as though EOQ rules.

  47. Dressguard says:

Neither Matt nor Yerk were posting today. Very bearish.

  48. George says:

The XLF dropped below its daily 36MA for a sale on that time frame.

The weekly is above its 36MA and remains above its sale signal. The weekly could drop back for a test of the 36MA.

  49. George says:

    after,

I haven’t traded the VXX. It has done nothing but go down since creation. I don’t short stocks, so I would have to wait for an upside setup.
