NDX Test

The NASDAQ-100 looks poised to test its October 2nd intra-day low of 1656.57 on Monday. Here is a daily NDX chart (click to enlarge):

NDX-10-31-09

Notice that the red uptrend line is converging with the blue support line.

The NDX is closer to testing its October 2nd low than the SPX is, and the signal it gives will also likely apply to the SPX since the NDX usually leads the SPX.

This test may occur Sunday night in the futures, so the equivalent low for the NDX futures (NQ) is 1652.75; only 13 points away, which is a small daily move for the NDX. The equivelent level for the SPX futures (ES) is 1012.00.

Google released a new mobile navigation app today and GPS navigation companies such as Garmin And TomTom saw their shares take a plunge. The announcement shaved $1.2 billion off of Garmin’s market cap alone.

    Matt,

As to the chart you referenced, I didn’t know SDS was going to range at that time. I knew that the 5min and 15min were in an uptrend and the hourly’s trend was up so I could swing the 1 or 5min.

The only thing I could think of that would be a sign would be a divergence of some sort on one of the time frames. There was a lot of undulating going on at that time with all time frames.

I know that at least one time frame is trending at all times during other time frames’ ranging and ranging seems to be a move before a significant change in direction.

I’ll take a look at ranging and see if there’s anything that can be detected.

    re-examining my forex comeback
in 34 trades since oct 7th 10 winners and 24 losers (29% winners)
Average loss -13.6 while average gain 27 (1.98 ratio)
    Total P/L -57.11

considering what I averaged when i first started (avg gain of 5 and avg loser of 10) I would have now been at a hypothetical total P/L of -190.

saving myself $133 in 34 trades is a big accomplishment as it averages $4/more per trade. lol

    sorry for my blabber. :P

In 2006 and 2007, Goldman Sachs Group peddled more than $40 billion in securities backed by at least 200,000 risky home mortgages, but never told the buyers it was secretly betting that a sharp drop in U.S. housing prices would send the value of those securities plummeting.

A Goldman spokesman, Michael DuVally, said that the firm decided in December 2006 to reduce its mortgage risks and did so by selling off subprime-related securities and making myriad insurance-like bets, called credit-default swaps, to “hedge” against a housing downturn.

    Julie,
Any of your experts talked about this yet?

Why vaccines, antibiotics and antivirals are now obsolete- surpassed by hydrated fullerenes (C60 HYFN)

Governments around the world should fast-track the approval of hydrated fullerenes (C60 HyFNs) or Fullerene Water Solution (FWS) drinks, which are anti-microbial (both anti viral and anti bacterial) and can protect people from all colds and flu. WFS is about to be launched by Ukrainian scientists on the Ukrainian market as a natural food supplement (fullerenes are found in nano-quantities in molasses)

  31. K says:

i don’t want to get much into it but there’s also a 34 page paper on DTIC’s website if that makes it any more reliable

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC®) serves the DoD community as the largest central resource for DoD and government-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business related information available today.

I’ma see if i can order some from Ukraine :)

A weak economy has accelerated the process of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) becoming pretty much unnecessary due to technology and effective private options.

This is obviously bad news for the the USPS’s 656,000 employees. Yet it is also likely to be bad news for the U.S. taxpayer as well.

The writing is on the wall, but this institution is unlikely to go down without a fight given that it is the second largest employer in the U.S. after Walmart.

On Sunday afternoon, the company filed for Chapter 11 — but under a so-called prepackaged bankruptcy plan that will enable it to emerge from court protection by the end of the year.

Sunday’s filing, made in a Manhattan federal court, caps months of efforts by CIT to stay alive.

well there it came as expected!

  36. Julie says:

Not yet K. But it sounds like a move in the
    right direction.

  37. K says:

    Julie,
:D as long as we keep eachother updated once in a while it should be sufficient

    K,
Because big T will be on the program trading
button. They were on it Friday, but foreign
    selling won.

  39. hank says:

    Hi Julie,
What is big T? What makes you say foreign selling won?
    TIA.

  40. Julie says:

    Hank,
Big T is the Treasury. Foreign order flow stopped
GS and Chase (who work for Treasury) from
    getting program trading working.

  41. hank says:

    Matt,

I think the time stamp needs to be adjusted for the time change. Here in Arizona we are happy to have the market open one hour later ;)
